Spanish Language Global Education Programs

Several programs offered through the Duke University Global Education Office for Undergraduates are jointly administered by the Department of Romance Studies, have faculty and staff participants in the programs, or involve a substantial Spanish language component. Please see the Global Education links below for the following programs:

Global Education Office for Undergraduates

All of us live in a world of increasingly interdependent nations and cultures, and you must be prepared to live and work in an international environment. While you can prepare in part through academic study and open debate at your home college, nothing can match direct experience.

An extended encounter with a foreign culture's different values and languages can teach us how to communicate across the barriers of custom, geography, and politics. Students who have studied abroad return with a deeper understanding of other peoples, of their own cultural background, of themselves, and of their place in the world.

For more information on programs affiliated with Romance Studies, as well as those in other languages and locations, please see the website for the Global Education Office for Undergraduates.

The DukeEngage program provides funding for Duke undergraduates who wish to pursue an intensive civic engagement experience within a community that has an identified need. Through DukeEngage, Duke students address societal issues within the U.S. and abroad.
