Dainotto wins Shannon Prize

Roberto Dainotto, Professor of Romance Studies, has been awarded the 2010 Laura Shannon Prize in Contemporary European Studies for his book Europe (In Theory) (Duke University Press, 2007). Presented by the Nanovic Institute for European Studies at Notre Dame University, the Shannon Prize is given annually to the author of the best book in European studies that transcends a focus on any one country, state, or people to stimulate new ways of thinking about contemporary Europe as a whole. This is the first year that the Prize has been awarded to a work in the humanities. Please read complete press release here.

Professor Dainotto accepted his prize on September 23 at the University of Notre Dame, and he delivered the lecture, "Europe (in Practice): Which Culture for the Union?" based on his book. For more information, click here.
