Overview

I believe that education is transformation, and I think that we, as citizens of the world, need to enhance our perspectives inside and outside of the classroom in order to embrace, understand, respect and live in a diverse and global society.  The entire Duke University’s community is a unique place for learning to support and respect the diversity of its population.  As a teacher of Spanish as a Foreign Language, I like to take advantage of this excellent scenario to promote diversity and difference as some of the most valuable aspects to build a better world. I am not an expert in changing the world; however, I have always wanted to plant seeds for that to happen.  What I aspire to --whether my Spanish course is elementary or advanced-- is for my students to improve their Spanish language skills and, at the same time, discover a new world... to recognize and to embrace the diversity and differences of the Hispanic world as something valuable and enriching.
