How has being a graduate from Duke's Romance Studies Department helped shape you personally and/or professionally?

"My language and intercultural knowledge has helped launch me into a career focused on international politics and foreign policy.

"Combining romance studies with political science was a good way to make sure I received an education about both the political and cultural aspects of international affairs."

What advice would you give students in Duke's Romance Studies programs?

"Take advantage of opportunities to study abroad! More than anything, these will enhance your language skills. They are also a great way to broaden your perspective and expose you to new experiences. My semesters abroad in Paris and Madrid were foundational in shaping my desire to have a career focused on relations between the United States and Europe."
