How has being a graduate from Duke's Romance Studies Department helped shape you personally and/or professionally?

"The faculty in the Romance Studies Department really encouraged me to pursue my passions at the graduate levels. I always felt extremely supported by the RS community. I am a historian of US foreign policy because of my abroad experience through Duke and the Romance Studies Department. My first time abroad, I was able to immerse myself in a history and culture that still challenge me every day."

What advice would you give students in Duke's Romance Studies programs?

"Get to know the faculty in the department! These are the mentors and friends who will influence how you see the world. Studying abroad will also give you a nuanced view on history, language immersion, and culture."
