Class of 2026
Majors in Public Policy and French, Minor in Philosophy
Hi! I'm a senior from Wilmette, Illinois majoring in Public Policy and French and hoping to work in government and potentially live abroad for a while. At Duke, I'm the Chair of Duke Votes, the Vice President of Career Affairs for the Public Policy Majors Union, and a tour guide. I spent my junior fall studying abroad in Paris and living with a host family through the Duke in France/EDUCO program, which was one of my favorite semesters at Duke. I've also spent the past two summers in Washington, DC interning on the Hill and for a lobbying group. Right now, I'm writing my senior honors thesis in Public Policy entitled "Populism and Precarity: The Role of Status Loss in American Electoral Politics." Outside of school and extracurriculars, I love to read and watch movies and am an avid user of Goodreads and Letterboxd. I also love trying new restaurants in Durham, so let me know if you have any recommendations!
Favorite Class: My favorite class at Duke was the Russian Novel because I love taking literature classes even though I don't always have the opportunity to, and I have always wanted to read Russian literature with the aid of an expert. Professor Flaherty guided us through some seminal texts, and we spent the last part of the semester reading "Anna Karenina," which has become one of my favorite books I've ever read. I'd love to take another class with her and have made an effort to read more Russian literature outside the course!
