Medical Student, Duke School of Medicine

2015 Major: Romance Studies with Chemistry Minor

How has being a Romance Studies graduate from Duke helped shape your professional success?

"Romance Studies was a great major that allowed me to explore my non-medical interests while at Duke. Not only did his allow me to stand apart from other applicants in the medical school application process, but it also allowed me to be a more well-rounded, culturally cognizant medical student. The faculty were great, and I really enjoyed my Spanish and Italian classes!

"I also received a Chemistry Minor, which was helpful to show formally to medical schools that I had indeed completed all of the necessary science courses, and indeed more, and that I was prepared to handle medical school science workload."

What advice would you give students in Romance Studies?

"I think it's a great degree that can help you stand out on any application, whether it's for grad school or for a job!"
