Quechua and the Andean Environment

This course explores the Quechua language and its use within its Andean environmental context, drawing on linguistic and anthropological frameworks. Students will examine the relationship between language and environment over time, engaging with topics like placenames, spatial orientation, and narrative, alongside readings in paleoecology, archaeology, and environmental justice. By the end, students will understand the complex entanglement of language and environment and gain foundational knowledge of the Quechua language family and the Andean world.
